Wide Time was a exhibition by Conductor, a group of painters, composers and poets. It was developed as an exploration of how painting and music together could effect one's perception of the passage of time.
The variety of responses by individual members added strength and depth to an exhibition unconcerned by specific concepts of style.
A programme of live events was developed alongside the main programme of painting and recorded music that played throughout the gallery.
The various atmospheres created throughout the main rooms of the gallery allowed the visitors to make their own imaginative links between the paintings, sound and architecture.
Some of the composers - Joliffe, Kingshill, Schweckendeik and Willis - had collaborated with reference to specific paintings by Haire; in other cases the relationship between sound and painting had developed through a more ambivalent collaboration.

As well as the main exhibition by Conductor, poets reading their own works written in reponse to the paintings included Jane Kingshill, Duncan Hadfield, James Harpur, John Ringrose, Martin Sonnenberg and Jane Street.
There was also a concert of choral music by Temenos conducted by Nils Sshweckendiek.
Temenos, currently in their tenth anniversary year, are a chamber choir founded by Susan Haire and based in Kent. The choir specialises in early music, singing an unusual repertoire that includes music by little known composers. In addition to works written for WIDE TIME their programme included early music chosen by Susan Haire for the relationship she felt it had with her painting.
